004 – Transform Your Mindset to Love-Based

In this week’s episode, I discuss the way our thinking has been holding us back from achieving our goals and living our best life.  I explain what fear-based thinking is, and how it continues to fail us in areas like our careers, relationships, and weight loss.  We’ve been programmed in our culture to think that we have to condemn ourselves and curse ourselves to get what we want out of life, when it couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Fear-based thinking holds us back.  It’s a low-vibration, and we get out of life what we put into it.  So we need to switch our thinking.  We need to start thinking from a love-based perspective so that we can truly get the most out of our lives!  When we make that switch to a love-based perspective, we can think clearly.  We do things that make sense for ourselves and for our bodies because it’s what we need most.

Whatever goal you have for yourself, know that you can use this mindset shift to bring God and the Universe into your life and work WITH you.  Love-based thinking is how we transform our bodies and our lives.  Love-based thinking helps us to give ourselves grace; to treat ourselves, our friends, and everyone around us with love, respect, and honesty.

When you shift your vibration to that of love (the highest vibration of energy possible), then you attract MORE of that into your life.  Remember, what you put out, you get back.  You will notice more people coming into your life that can help you achieve your goals.  You will experience more opportunities to learn and grow.  You might even find a new job or get a new offer that is more aligned with your purpose, passion, and values.

All of these things start to change for the better to support you in your goals, including weight loss and body image.  You have to start thinking from a love-based perspective if you truly want to transform.

001 – It’s Time to Take Back Control of Your Journey

I am so passionate about helping you regain the confidence that you may be missing when it comes to your body image and weight management.
Own Your Journey Podcast Art-minWe have been conditioned and programmed through social media and marketing to actually hate our bodies, and feel as though we aren’t good enough.  It’s become such an epidemic that we forget that we have control over how we feel about ourselves, and it’s time to take that back.
We aren’t supposed to feel miserable and sad all the time about our bodies and our appearances.  We aren’t supposed to sit around all day and scroll social media and compare ourselves to photo-shopped models and “fitspo.”
You need to know that you are perfect in every way exactly as you are right now.  It’s time for you to remember who you really are, and know that you already have everything you need in order to succeed and to reach your goals.
I’m here to end the madness and to help you shift your mindset from a fear-based perspective to a love-based perspective.  Instead of being stressed out and scrambling to try and lose weight by a certain weight because we feel like we have to, start with embracing yourself and loving yourself.
Once you focus on loving yourself and your body, you will start doing more things to take care of it; like working out because it’s good for you – not because you have to, and eating better because it makes you better.
I’ll be going into a lot of topics around fitness, nutrition, body image, healthy living, and everything that we go through as women trying to be the best we can be!  I’ll tell you all of my story so that you know that you aren’t alone and that you can have your victory, too!
In this first episode of Own Your Journey, I talk a bit about who I am, why this podcast exists, and what I hope to get out of this.  I don’t know where this will take me, but I know that it will be one amazing journey (pun intended)!

002 – Why Loving Your Body is So Hard

Own Your Journey Podcast Art-minIn this podcast episode, I break down some of the most relatable reasons as to why loving our bodies as women is just so darn hard in society today.  There are so many complicated reasons that make it difficult for us to have a healthy and positive relationship with our bodies.
This way of thinking started when we were young as a way to bond and fit in with our girlfriends.  I urge you to look back and think about the types of conversations you used to have growing up with your friends about your bodies.  If they were anything like mine, we would speak negatively about ourselves and then praise our friends for something over and over.  This has been ingrained in our behavior since we were little kids!
I also explain why the media is such a strong influence in our lives, whether we think it or not.  Any image we see, we automatically subconsciously compare ourselves to it.  When we don’t measure up, we feel less than.
Another reason it’s so hard for us to love our bodies is because if you aren’t happy with where you are physically, it’s really hard to be accepting of yourself.  This leads into the next point, which may resonate with you deeply.  Maybe you’ve seen yourself at a smaller size, or a lighter number on the scale, and now anything else just doesn’t measure up.
I explain that this point really resonates with me the most, and I share my own personal story of overcoming this limiting belief.  If you didn’t know, I was anorexic from 2011-2013.  I tell this story so that you know you aren’t alone in having these thoughts.  If I can overcome it, so can you!
It’s also so important for you to realize that cosmetic procedures are more common than ever right now.  Each year, more and more people are having some type of procedure done, and the focus is on the face and fat (article here).  We need to be aware of this because these statistics are growing because we are ALL SO INSECURE!  Remember this.
Finally, and probably the most flawed thinking we have, is that we actually think that if we like our body the way it is, it won’t ever change.  It is sooo important that you know that this is not your fault!  I’m here to help you break the trance and enlighten you.
After we talk about these top six reasons as to why it’s so hard to love your body, I give you tips and tactics on how to stop thinking this way and to start owning your journey and loving your body.
I want to know what you struggle with the most when it comes to loving your body!  I would love for you to leave a comment below this post and tell me what you struggle with so I can address it on future episodes.

003 – A Little Bit About Me… Can You Relate?

Own Your Journey Podcast Art-minIn this third episode of Own Your Journey, I get a little bit personal.  I dive deep into how I got to where I am in my own journey so that you know where I’m coming from with all this stuff.
If you have been following me for a while, you know my fitness and health journey has been a long one, and it’s far from over.  I go all the way back to the beginning of it all, when I set to lose weight after graduating from Penn State in 2010.
At some point along the way, something switched in my head, that told me I was never small enough or thin enough.  I was always seeking external validation in various forms, and suddenly, before I knew it, I was addicted to watching the scale go down.  I was addicted to losing weight.
I talk about my journey through not knowing I was anorexic, to my wakeup call when I realized that I actually did have a problem, and all of the battles I endured when it came to the relationship with my body and with food as a result.
Everything that I did was related to my physical image in some way.  I was always trying to prove something, and I’m still not even sure what that was.  From competing in bikini competitions, to getting breast implants (since removed), my body was just never good enough for me.
There is way more to my story than what’s talked about in this podcast, and I promise you that we will eventually talk about ALL of it.  Many of my beliefs were validated and ingrained into my behavior by people and experiences.  There’s a lot to that, and I promise we’ll get there!
This episode is a high-level overview of my experience with my own body image and self-love journey.  My lowest point is revealed, and how this podcast came to be will be apparent after you listen to this episode!
If you can relate to any of my story, I would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment below and tell me what your biggest struggle is right now when it comes to your body image or health.  I’d love to help you!  Please share this episode with anyone who might benefit from it.
